Two new multimedia ICs from Rohm will simplify the design and reduce the component count of VCRs, televisions, camcorders and other video applications. The BA7622F and BA7623F video ICs integrate three 75Ohm driver circuits into a miniature SOP8 surface mount package with dimensions of just 5.0 x 4.4 x 1.5mm. In both cases, the driver outputs are capable of driving two 75O loads. The BA7622F offers two clamped inputs for composite video or Y video signals, and a biased input for the chroma signal. Outputs comprise one biased output and two clamped outputs. In the case of the BA7623F, the inputs allow direct DC coupling to a previous stage providing the composite video or component video (RGB) signals. Designed to operate with a typical supply voltage of 5V, the two new multimedia ICs have a maximum power dissipation of 550mW at 25ºC. In addition, by connecting the outputs of the devices to earth, a protection circuit operates and the ICs enter a power save mode.
