The three-axis, low-gravity (low-g), MEMS-based MMA7260Q has been designed specifically for portable consumer electronics. The sensor ships in a 16-lead 6x6x1.45mm QFN package, draws 500microA from a 2.2 to 3.6V supply, and consumes only three microA in sleep mode. It includes a g-select feature that allows for selectable values of 1.5, 2, 4 or 6g. This gives designers the flexibility to choose the g-force detection level a specific application needs, also reducing component count and overall production costs. The chip measures acceleration in three dimensions, allowing portable devices to intelligently respond to changes in position, orientation and movement.
