Advanced Power Technology has extended its line of Field Stop, trench gate IGBT power modules with 600, 1200 and 1700V devices in SP4 and SP6 packages. All units offer minimum VCE(sat) saturation voltage of typically 1.5V for 600V, 1.7V for 1200V and 2V for 1700V. They are dedicated to low-frequency operation where overall system efficiency is a concern. The optimum switching frequency is 20kHz for 600V products, 10 to 20kHz for 1200V products and up to 10kHz for 1700V products. The units come in buck, boost, dual-buck, dual-boost, dual-common-source, phase-leg, full-bridge, asymmetrical-bridge, triple-phase-leg and triple-dual-common-source configurations. Current rating ranges from 20 to 600A for 600V devices, 50 to 400A for 1200V devices and from 50 to 300A for 1700V devices (at 80°C). The solderable terminals make them easy to mount on PCBs. The isolated package can be mounted onto heat sinks. Main applications are motor drives, UPS, welders, plasma cutters, solar inverters, inductive heating, solid-state relays for three-phase mains and other applications where low conduction is of primary concern.
