Three new SBC starter kits for Windows CE-based applications are available from Kontron Embedded Modules. There is a choice of either EPIC-based SBCs with 400MHz ULV Intel Celeron processors for full PC/104plus support, including ISA bus ; or 3.5" JRex SBCs, likewise with ULV Intel Celeron or Intel Pentium M processors. In this reader offer, the company gives away a complete starter kit with the JRex-PM (Pentium M 1.6GHz, ATX) board, including DDR-RAM, CompactFlash card, Windows CE 5.0 licence, power supply and OS pre-installed. Thanks to Windows CE 5.0 pre-installed on the CF card, applications can be tested on the platforms immediately. The accompanying CD-ROM includes all the necessary Starter Kit documentation, WinCE SDK & BSP, as well as an image of the preinstalled WinCE. The JRex-PM uses the Intel 855GMe ICH4 chipset, with a 400MHz-capacity front-side bus. The DDR-RAM-DIMM slot, with room for up to 1Gbyte, accepts standard desktop memory modules. Interfaces include two USB ports, LAN, CompactFlash, keyboard/mouse, VGA, and COM1. The Intel Extreme Graphics 2 Engine, with up to 2x32Mbyte of video RAM UMA (Dual Screen), supports DVO, LVDS, and CRT, among others.
