Designed to showcase the capabilities of Cypress's WirelessUSB LP 2.4-GHz radio SoC, the company's CY3630 Evaluation Kit (EVK) includes a multi-configuration microcontroller socket, radio modules, LCD displays, a large prototyping area, and MCU programming software provided on a CD-ROM. The kit also includes four firmware tutorials as well as a wireless-range demo that help users to quickly build familiarity with the features and performance of the radio. In this edition, four such kits, worth $250 each, are on offer for EPN readers. The WirelessUSB LP chip provides high interference immunity and low BOM costs, while enabling high-data-rate applications for keyboards, mice, gaming devices and remotes, or other simple, multi-point-to-point wireless applications. It operates between 1.8 and 3.6V, using advanced power-saving techniques to extend battery life in devices such as wireless mice. The tool uses the manufacturer's patented frequency agile Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) technology and has a range of up to 50m.
