Vacuum encapsulated for maximum reliability, the Smart Force DC/AC inverters prolong the use-ful life of the EL lamps they power by automatically adjusting operating voltage and frequency as the lamp ages and changes. The units give the display design engineer a wide range of options. The standard E600 package is 31.75x21.59x24.13mm, the E300 measures 29.21x15.24x15.24mm and the Mini-EL packages have a foot print of 24.63x17.27x17.52mm for smaller displays such as those used in portable and hand-held devices. For applications where height is limited, the compact LP (low profile) package brings the inverter in a 30.2x20.8x8.6mm format. To power conventional foil EL lamps used in backlighting applications, the LPS series draw less than 400mW per unit load to maximise the lamps' effectiveness in battery-operated devices. Three different package sizes are available, with the largest capable of powering panels up to 386cm2 to 120V at 400Hz. Endicott Research Group, A6.462
