The RPM972-H14 infrared communications module, which is only 2.2mm high, comes with a remote control transmission function that conforms to the 4-Mbit/s fastinfrared (FIR) specifications of the Infrared Data Association (IrDA). The RPM972-H14 does not need an external resistor which was required for conventional modules in remote control mode, thus saving PCB space. The unit draws only 2.4mW when in standby mode.
