To increase its market presence in single-mode fibre testing, Fujikura has released two new testing tools. The FLS-20T is a hand-held, battery-operated, dual-laser light source with a protective rubber boot, designed to be used in conjunction with an optical power meter to measure power loss over a fibre network. The device can operate at two wavelengths - 1310 and 1550m - and can incorporate selectable signal modes from continuous-wave-light and modulated tones of 270Hz, 1KHz and 2KHz. The FVI-01 is a miniature key-ring-size, battery-operated red-laser light source that enables engineers to identify faults, bends, breaks and low-quality splices or connections.
