Can you briefly describe your main line of business?
Discretix provides robust, high-performance embedded security and content-protection systems for consumer-electronics devices, such as mobile phones, PDAs, memory cards and USB Flash drives. The solutions we offer, CryptoCell and CryptoFlash, give devices the capability of coping with computationally intensive security applications, all within the confines of limited processing, power and memory resources. Discretix also provides DRM and mobile-TV-security client software, important elements of the infrastructure needed for the consumption of premium content on mobile devices.
What is your best-selling product and where do you ship it to most?
Discretix is active in the mobile-device and Flash-memory markets, both of which play important roles in the company's strategic-growth plans. These markets deploy advanced applications and computing power, which are driving the demand for embedded security solutions.
What is your roadmap from here?
We will keep expanding our existing product portfolio, offering solutions for open operating systems running mobile devices and high-capacity SIM cards. We will also widen our content-protection offering, addressing other segments of the enterprise and consumer markets. In addition, Discretix is constantly examining the security requirements of other vertical markets.
How do you differ from your competitors?
Discretix offers three major advantages over its competitors: vertically integrated solutions; optimised implementation of standard cryptography; and multi-scheme content protection.
By integrating hardware, firmware and software, the vertically integrated solutions provide for a broad layer of security infrastructure required for all applications, including specific security applications such as DRM. Furthermore, Discretix is unique both in the breadth of its offering and in its ability to ensure that all the solution components are tightly coupled.
Other companies have tried to address the problem of deploying computationally intensive security on consumer electronic devices with new cryptographic algorithms, which typically take very long to be accepted by the industry. Discretix solved the problem using a proprietary implementation of industry-standard cryptographic algorithms.
Then our unique approach to mobile content protection allows us to offer a single-software client that implements all major schemes in use today. The client is also future-proof in the sense that it is designed to accommodate any schemes that may be deployed in the future.
Any strategic moves planned for the future?
Discretix will continue to explore new markets and to expand its existing global presence through both organic growth and acquisitions.
