Devlin Electronics has announced that its CleanKey waterproof washable keyboard and mouse are available from RS Components. The keyboard has been designed to meet the hygiene standards of healthcare applications. The keyboard is sealed to IP68, signifying that it can be submersed in up to 1m of liquid. The product features a patented key shape and spacing that removes areas where dirt can be deposited. The name ‘CleanKey' is inspired by the function that enables the keyboard to be locked from the computer when the clean key is pressed. The keyboard can be cleaned at the point-of-use without needing to close on screen applications and without disconnecting from the PC. The company has exhibited the keyboards at the CeBIT exhibition in Germany. Although the CleanKey products were designed specifically for medical users, the company has received interest from many different sectors. The keyboard and mouse have been identified as a suitable choice for use in laboratories, clean rooms, veterinary surgeries, food processing environments and some industrial control applications.
