ON Semiconductor has expanded its IP (intellectual property) portfolio with the addition of more than 30 silicon-proven IP blocks. Customers developing ASIC (application specific integrated circuits) and SoC (system-on-chip) solutions based on the company's digital and mixed-signal process technologies will have access to expanded IP for industry-standard interfaces, microcontrollers and peripherals. The new IP can be useful for industry sectors and application areas including military and aerospace, networking and wireless communications, consumer electronics, automotive and industrial automation. The new IP blocks include solutions for high-speed interfaces, such as USB 2.0, Ethernet, PCMCIA and PCI. A variety of microcontroller and peripheral options will also be available. The new synthesisable IP is process-independent, allowing the blocks to be implemented across a variety of the company's existing and planned ASIC technologies. Additional design flexibility can be offered by tailoring individual blocks to address non-standard requirements.
