A range of rugged stepper motors with IP68 protection ratings has been introduced by Astrosyn. Intended for operation in harsh and wet environments, the F87 series is tested underwater to a pressure of 1bar that corresponds to a water depth of 10m. The 34 Nema size motors are suitable for use in the food processing industry, where process equipment has to be regularly washed down and decontaminated. The motors can be supplied with special coatings for protection against corrosion or marine conditions. Other application areas are in machine tools, where the presence of cutting fluid represents a demanding environment and in equipments that are submerged or exposed to heavy rain. All models have a step angle of 1.8°. The holding torques range from 1.8 to 7.2Nm. Shafts may be single or double ended.
