Gennum has developed the GS2971 and GS2961 3Gbit/s SDI receive solutions for broadcast video applications. These silicon-based equalising-receiver solutions have a reach of up to 150m over coaxial cable and can be integrated into various sorts of of 3Gbit/s studio equipment, such as monitors, multiviewers, encoders/decoders and switchers. The multi-rate support of these devices provides for backward compatibility, ensuring continued value from existing equipment. The GS2971 is a tri-rate receiver with integrated equaliser technology that supports 3Gbit/s SDI, HD and SD specifications. In order to meet a wide range of studio-product needs, this model enables over 150m of cable reach at 3G-SDI data rates, more than 250m at HD-SDI data rates and in excess of 480m at SD-SDI data rates. It performs comprehensive digital SMPTE video processing and audio de-embedding in a small, cost-effective package. The GS2961 is a tri-rate receiver that offers the same feature set as the GS2971 solution, with the exception of audio de-embedding.
