SingMai Electronics has introduced the PT8, a multi-standard video encoder IP core supporting PAL-M/N/B/D/G/H/I and NTSC-M/J. The IP core accepts BT656 formatted data in either 8 or 10bit format, and the associated 27MHz clock, which it encodes to a 10bit, digital composite video signal that can be used to directly drive a digital to analogue converter, modulator or other output device. Control and status registers are written to and read from using an 8bit wide microprocessor interface. The product is supplied either as an encrypted 'black-box' file with fixed three year renewable unlimited use license, or as an unlimited time, unlimited use license. Source code files are programmed in RTL-compliant Verilog. The product features a switchable sin x/x filter. The core has high quality video output. The product features less than 1% DG, less than 1° DP, less than 1% K-factor and less than -65dB SNR. The IP core has 2036 logic elements that allow multiple encoders in small FPGAs or silicon footprint.
