The use of efficient EMC/EMI filters on the DC-output side of Schaffner's EMC/EMI filters for PV (photovoltaic) solar-energy inverters contributes to compliance with the EMC directive and increases system reliability, says the company. The FN 2200 filters are optimised for PV systems. When used in conjunction with appropriately sized EMC/EMI filters on the mains side, the DC filters help to meet the limits of EN 61000 and other binding EMC standards. Such standards are frequently required for PV installations in Europe and other regions. Further, they help to increase the service life of the solar panel, improve its reliability, and reduce potential interference radiations away from the panel by keeping inverter-borne high frequency and leakage currents away. The filters require up to 30% less installation space compared to traditional solutions, says the company. They also ensure a power loss of less than 0.0008% related to the rating of the inverter to maximise PV efficiency. The filters are available with ratings from 25 to 1500A at +55°C and for voltages of up to 1200V DC. Filters without filter capacitors to ground—the FN 2200B model—are available upon request.
