OmniVision Technologies has introduced a 3mm high-performance OV7739 video sensor developed specifically to address the low-light sensitivity demands of the notebook PC market. The video sensor, with support for multiple interfaces including parallel and MIPI (mobile industry processor interface), provides a versatile platform for use in single and multi-camera applications including notebook PC/netbooks and gaming applications.

The support for multiple interfaces allows system designers can leverage the same electrical design across various products and market segments, improving time-to-market.

Based on OmniPixel3-HS architecture, the 1/7.5inch video sensor delivers good low light performance at 3300mV/(lux-sec), enabling high quality video conferencing and recording in virtually any lighting condition.

The video sensor is capable of operating at 30fps (frames per second) in VGA resolution and 60fps in QVGA resolution with complete user control over image quality, formatting and output data transfer. It provides full-frame, sub-sampled, windowed or scaled 8bit/10bit images in RAW RGB and YUV formats.
