Murata Power Solutions has introduced an AC/DC front-end power supply for hot-swapping redundant systems that meets Climate Savers' 80+ Gold efficiency rating. The 2200W at 220V AC and 1100W at 110V AC power-factor corrected D1U4CS-W-2200-12-HA4C has a main output of 12V and a standby output of 5V. Designed for delivering high density bulk power to servers, workstations, storage systems, and other 12V distributed power architecture applications, the power supply is packaged in a 1U low-profile enclosure with overall dimensions of 355.6x101.6x41.0mm. The new unit has built-in variable speed cooling fans and has N+1 redundancy capability including hot-docking. If required, four units can be packaged into an optional 19inch, 1U power shelf to provide up to 8.8kW of power. It has a power density of 24.5W/cubic inch and achieves efficiency levels of between 92% at 50% load and 88% at 20% load. The unit features active current sharing on its main output and incorporates safety features that include over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature with auto-recover protection. Status information is provided through front panel LEDs, logic signals, and an I2C bus interface.
