Express Logic has released market-specific, turnkey SafetyCritical Certification Pack products for its ThreadX RTOS. The solution now helps embedded device manufacturers to eliminate months of verification and validation efforts in complying with rigorous reliability and safety-critical standards.
For European customers, the solution supports such standards as IEC-61508 for industrial equipment, IEC-62304 for medical devices, EUROCAE ED-12B for aerospace, and the newly globalised rail standard IEC-62279 (formerly known as BS/EN-50128).
By using the COTS RTOS such as ThreadX along with a safety-critical certification pack developers can increase the likelihood of successful, on-time completion. The solution addresses the requirements of safety certification standards, and is suitable for certification of the RTOS used in a safety-critical system.
The solution meets the RTOS-related aspects of standards for safety-critical systems. It includes all source code, documentation, coverage analysis, validation artifacts, and summary report for submission to the governing agency as part of the overall system certification. Each pack is pre-tailored for the specific standard addressed, the operating system used, and the target environment.
The solution contains the following: software safety requirements; software safety validation plan; development plan; configuration management plan; quality assurance plan; verification/test plan; coding standards; requirements standards; design standards; requirements specification; design description; unit test procedure; unit test plans; unit test reports; integration test procedure; integration test plan; integration test report; trace matrices, configuration index; software accomplishments summary; and safety manual.
The solution is a small-footprint, optimised, preemptive scheduling RTOS, used in demanding applications in consumer electronics, industrial automation, medical devices, and aerospace equipment. It simplifies management of real-time systems with an easy-to-use API, full source code, and extensive documentation.
