Laird Technologies has released enhanced BTM410/411 and BTM420/421 Bluetooth radio modules. With a size of 12.5x18mm and low-power operation, the modules are designed for data applications and are integrated, sub-miniature Bluetooth data-oriented modules based on an advanced chipset. Incorporating a Bluetooth stack and supporting SPP (serial port profile), the modules provide a UART interface and a comprehensive AT command set to allow an easy interface to a host processor. It is a fast method to add a Bluetooth wireless data link to an embedded product with wireless connection, according to the company. The modules support the BT2.1 + EDR, SSP, SPP, SCO and eSCO specifications, and meet FCC/IC/CE standards. The modules are designed to support a separate power supply for I/O. The BTM410 module supports an external antenna whereas the BTM411 module incorporates an on-board, high-performance ceramic chip antenna. The BTM420/421 modules use the same sub-miniature format, but support an USB HCI interface and are pre-approved as Bluetooth controller sub-systems. The BTM420 module supports an external antenna whereas the BTM421 module incorporates an on-board, high-performance ceramic chip antenna.
