Swissbit has announced an addition to its Industrial family of flash memory products, the M-100 series, a 128Mbyte MMC (multimedia card) with a ruggedised housing to provide ESD protection up to 15kV. This small-form-factor flash card also offers a MTBF rating of more than 4,000,000 hours, more than 10,000 insertions/removals, and 10-year data retention to satisfy the demanding, non-volatile, high-reliability applications such as transportation, aerospace, military, telecommunications, medical, mobile computing, and networking environments. Intelligent wear-leveling ensures that all dynamic and static data is balanced evenly across the entire flash memory card. The card supports both MMC and the SPI bus communication modes. Either mode can be selected by the application while being transparent to the host system. Data integrity is assured by use of a patented on-board voltage detection and power-loss management system to prevent data corruption during an unexpected loss of power. The card uses a custom-designed, highly-integrated memory controller and is compliant with the MultiMediaCard Association MMC specifications 3.31, 4.1, and 4.2.
