Maxim Integrated Products has introduced the MAX3543, a broadband, multistandard silicon tuner for worldwide hybrid TVs, as well as terrestrial and cable set-top boxes. Developed using the company's BiCMOS process technology, this device offers enhanced tuner performance using a standard IF architecture that ensures less than -70dBc spurs. With the device, customers can use a single silicon pinout for all major worldwide television standards.
The device enables high-quality signal reception in demanding environments by offering enhanced sensitivity, a 4dB noise figure, and improved blocker performance. The device directly addresses key market needs by exceeding can tuner performance and eliminating the unwanted spurs common in other silicon tuners. Its advanced design architecture eliminates the need for expensive external components such as SAW filters. This integration enables reduction in space and cost. Implementation complexity is reduced with a low-cost, single-sided, two-layer PCB design, which requires only minimal external components.
The device is packaged in a lead-free, 6x6mm, 40pin TQFN package, and is fully specified over the 0 to +70°C temperature range.
