Radiometrix has unveiled the SHX1 narrowband transceiver. Powered by a +5V regulated supply, this compact multi-channel operation VHF device has an output power of 500mW, allowing it to cover a range of over 5km. The device is usable in any 3MHz segment of the 140 to 175MHz frequency range, allowing it to be employed in wireless communication based on the 144MHz amateur, 151MHz United States' MURS (Multi Use Radio Service), and European 169MHz bands. The standard device can offer data rates of up to 5kbit/s, and supports eight parallel or 255 serial channels. It conforms to both the ETSI EN 300 220-3 and EN 301 489-3 electromagnetic compatibility standards. As the device has separate N and R registers on each channel for transmit and receive functions, the frequency of each of these channels can be individually programmed in every mode. This device is suitable for a variety of applications, including amateur radio, MURS units, industrial/commercial telemetry systems, high-end security alarms, automatic packet reporting systems, vehicle data up/download, and remotely operated vehicle/machinery controls.
