Two integrated drivers from Gennum are integrated IC solutions for SFP+ modules. The GN1411 DML driver has an integrated limiting amplifier for 6 to 11.3Gbit/s data rates. The GN1412 EML driver has an integrated limiting amplifier for up to 11.3Gbit/s data rates. The devices are targeted at SFP+ modules which are used for high port density systems which are increasing required, along with high speed routing and switching equipment, as bandwidth requirements increase. The optical ICs include features such as slice level adjust and Rx path input equalisation which can be used in EML-based applications. The configurable devices allow support of loopback functionality in system design. The two laser drivers are pin-compatible with the company's 16G Fibre Channel dual CDR device. Optical module designers can create one design and re-use it to cover a range of SFP+ and XFP module types. Both devices are sampling now.
