Altera is now shipping in production the highest density member of its 40nm Stratix IV FPGA family. The Stratix IV E EP4SE820 has 820k logic elements, 23.1Mbit embedded memory and 96018x18 multipliers and is suitable for applications that require high-density, high-performance and low-power FPGAs, including ASIC prototyping and emulation, wireless, wireline, military, computer and storage. This the fourth FPGA to ship and completes the Stratix IV FPGA. The Stratix IV E devices include the company's proprietary Programmable Power technology and feature embedded memory and DSP resources. There are four variations, ranging in density from 230k up to 820k logic elements. There is a non-transceiver enhanced (E) version and two transceiver (GX and GT) versions.
