An industry group to collaborate and standardise MiFare applications, the international NFC (near field communications) payment system for public transport, ticketing and access management. The MiFare4Mobile group consists of NXP, Ericsson, Gemalto, Oberthur Technologies, STMicroelectronics, Venyon, and ViVOtech to manage MiFare-based services in NFC mobile devices and on NFC-enabled secure elements such as SIM cards and mobile phones. As more companies develop NFC applications to support transactions such as ticketing, there is an increased need for collaboration with other partners in the ecosystem to enable interoperable over the air configuration of SIM cards and handsets to activate, update, make provision for and improve the life cycle management of contactless mobile services. The group will work to enable mobile network operators, trusted services managers and service providers to leverage NFC-enabled mobile phone services on the existing vast MiFare infrastructures around the world. MiFare4Mobile technology has been developed by NXP to manage MiFare-based services. The group will work towards future direction and share best practices to evolve an interoperable development of the contactless technology. The industry group will develop specifications supporting MiFare DesFire technology and multiple trusted service managers. Licenses for the interface specifications are free of charge.
