A humidity and temperature sensor from Sensiron, the SHT21 has been qualified in accordance with the AEC-Q100 automotive standard. This qualification is unusual in that humidity sensors, unlike encapsulated electronic components, are constantly exposed to surroundings and sensitive to ambient conditions. In the high temperature operating lifetime test, the sensor operated at 125°C for 1000 hours. The 96-hour unbiased highly accelerated stress test at 130°C and 85% relative humidity confirmed stress resistance. The package was also tested in the temperature cycling test with 1000 cycles between -50 and +150°C.
