A 12.1inch, 30.7cm liquid crystal display is Sharp's first industrial display of this size with an XGA resolution of 1024x768 pixels. The LQ121X3LG02 has a high brightness of 1200cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, making it suitable for industrial applications such as measurement, testing or controlling equipment. It can also be used in applications which are used totally or partially outdoors, where displays have to meet high demands of difficult light conditions such as direct sunlight or fluctuations in temperature. The LED backlighting of the display, with 5x8 LEDs offers advantages compared to displays with CCFL backlights, says the company, such as extremely rapid response and dimming capability. The display brightness can be controlled by photodiodes and automatically adjusted in correlation of the ambient light conditions. This means that the display remains legible, even in frequently changing light conditions. The chassis design thermall couples backlight LEDs directly to the mechanical parts of the module. This means that waste heat is discharged into the environment via the rear of the display, ensuring that there is no damaging heat accumulation. Operating temperature is -20 to +60°C.
