AVX has expanded its 917x series of discrete wire-to-board connectors with the addition of the 9176-400 series contact and cap with a 6A rating. The connectors fit applications where there is a requirement to connect a single wire to a PCB. This connector comes with a small profile and at low cost and provides a reliable, SMT termination point for 22-24AWG wires, especially for SSL and industrial applications, claims the company. Developed to meet harsh environment automotive and industrial market applications, the IDC contact system has been tested to automotive levels of shock, vibration, and temperature cycling. This component enables a range of devices to be connected to the PCB without soldering, by inserting a wire into the SMT contact with a retention/termination cap. While the IDC contact provides a gas-tight connection to conductor of the wire, the optional cap provides a positive strain relief in severe vibration applications. To facilitate repair, wires can be removed and replaced up to three times. A SMT solder base provides stability on the PCB. The tool's simple IDC termination process provides reliability, repeatability and easy repair. Electronica: Hall B6: stand 219
