Claimed to provide ±1°C accuracy, the MAX6581 eight-channel temperature sensor from Maxim Integrated Products has seven remote sensing channels to monitor ASICs and boards with multiple hot spots. Each channel includes series resistance cancellation and beta compensation for accuracy. The sensor requires a single I2C address for the eight channels. It replaces up to eight local sensors or seven single-channel remote sensors and can measure the die temperature of external ICs that have integrated thermal diodes. It compensates for parasitic series resistance. Any of the seven remote channels can be used to measure board temperature. Offered in a 4x4mm, 24pin TQFN package with an exposed pad, the sensor operates from -40 to +125°C.
