LISA from u-blox is a family of small, fast, wireless modems. Each modem enables high-bandwidth applications such as mobile computing, car infotainment, telematics systems and hand-held terminals where wireless high-speed Internet connection is regarded as essential today. They also provide secure data exchange to support sensitive applications such as automatic meter reading, fixed wireless terminals, telehealth, remote displays and point of sale terminals. The modems provide high performance with uplink data speeds of up to 5.7Mbit/s (HSUPA) and downlink data speeds of up to 7.2Mbit/s (HSDPA) using UMTS/WCDMA technology. The modems also support quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE. Each is supplied in a compact 33.2x22.4x2.7mm surface-mount package. The family includes variants supporting dual-band UMTS frequencies for use in in Europe, Middle East and Africa or Asia and the Americas (900/2100MHz and 850/1900MHz). There are also versions dedicated to data-only applications. All modems are optimised to work with the company's GPS receivers via direct interface. The modem follows the company's LEON 2G module, and the layouts are compatible to enable either module to be mounted on the same PCB footprint, according to the requirements of a project.
