The PWI 100 series, industrial-quality AC/DC switching power supply uses field-proven topology to convert a universal AC input namely 95 to 264V AC, 47 to 420Hz to 12, 24 or 48V DC output, claims Absopulse Electronics. Other input/output values, including a 120 to 360V DC input version, are also available. Full encapsulation in a thermally conductive MIL-grade silicon rubber compound ensures resistance to high levels of shock, vibration and moisture. The unit operates in a -40 to +70°C cold-plate temperature range for full specification without derating. Cooling is via base plate to the customer’s heatsink or chassis. The power supply measures 81x66x156mm and weighs 0.95kg. The power supply is suitable for operation in extreme environments including industrial automation, transportation, oil and gas, and mining. A railway version that complies with EN 50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock is also available. This rugged power supply meets IEC 61371 Categories 1 A and B shock-and-vibration standards as a minimum, and has input and output filtering in compliance with EN55022 EMI standards. It also complies with the requirements of EN60950 and related standards. The unit features full electronic protection on the input and output, which eliminates the possibility of failure due to abnormal operating conditions, including application errors. Low component count, large design headroom, and the use of components with reliability result in a high MTBF.
