mechapro will introduce stepper motor drivers of the MID (Motor Integrated Drive) series for direct flanging to the motor. As these drivers feature a USB, Ethernet or fieldbus interface, they can be easily controlled. As an option, the drivers come with integrated encoders for load-adjustable motor operation. This makes the motors fail-safe and energy efficient.
The new drivers are integrated modules controllable via USB or Ethernet. Thus they are particularly suitable for motion control applications, in which motors for handling systems or automation solutions are directly controlled by a PC software programme or integrated into an existing control environment.
As the power and control units come as separate modules, the company can offer customised solutions even for small quantities. The company also realises RS232, RS485, CANopen and Profinet interfaces as well as interfaces for customer-specific protocols. Likewise customised solutions are developed for specific firmware, I/Os or customised housings.
The modules are suitable for a phase current of up to 3A and voltages of up to 48V. From Nema23 upwards, they are directly flanged to the motors with a 56mm flange. This saves space and wiring effort.
As an option, the company offers the driver modules with an integrated, magnetic 12bit single-turn absolute position encoder. The encoder detects overloading of the drive and improves the energy efficiency of the motors, as the driver adjusts the motor power to the actual load.
Compared to separate optical encoders, an integrated solution provides various advantages. The components are compact and less expensive. Standard motors with only one shaft end can be used and the sensors require no wiring. The integrated sensor is insensitive against contamination. The driver modules are therefore suitable for applications calling for a compact, robust and at the same time cost-efficient solution.
As the driver modules have the capability to store simple motion sequences, the drive can also be controlled via digital I/Os. The modules are offered with a cover or with a complete housing. Optionally, they can also be supplied in a cast version.
