Maxon Motor has launched two drives that can be sterilised, and which are for use in high-speed medical applications of up to 90,000 rpm. The drives are in sizes EC 5 and EC 13 sterilizable. They are designed for use with or without the specially matched planetary gear-heads. They can be used either in stand-alone or as motor or gear-head versions.; The solutions are characterised by their high nominal speed, an extremely low-noise and low-vibration operation, marginal thermal emission and small size. They are small, accurate and very fast. They are identical and possess equal performance data and characteristics. Both variants have an outer diameter of 13mm, a 3mm shaft and a flange with three face-side threads. Both devices have personalised outer wrappings, and are can be sterilised for 500 autoclave cycles. Both motors are available either equipped with or without Hall sensors and three different windings. The gear heads are supplied in versions with one, two or three stages, and with or without output end shaft sealings.
