The SC14441 and SC14442 are two single-chip DECT / CAT-iq ICs from SiTel Semiconductor. The chips feature a low-power QSPI (quad serial peripheral interface) flash interface, allowing its use with external QSPI flash memory ICs. This gives manufacturers the flexibility of a flash-based system. The flash interface is designed for low-power applications. As a result, cordless phone manufacturers will be able to incorporate flash memory. The IC avoids expensive processing of embedded flash or costs of external parallel flash. Tthe QSPI interface facilitates use of small packages, minimising the PCB space required and enabling the creation of compact end products. Available in a range of memory sizes, from 4 to 32Mbit, the QSPI flash chips allow manufacturers to deliver a complete product portfolio from a single base PCB design. It also eliminates the need for separate EEPROM for storing user settings and phonebooks.
