Claimed to be the industry's smallest, single-chip receivers to incorporate HDMI specification version 1.4a support for 3D display resolutions and extended colourimetry, the ADV7611 low-power, 165-MHz receiver and the ADV7612 225-MHz, dual-port receiver are by Analog Devices. The latter has Xpressview fast switching technology. Compared to competitive offerings, the ADV7611 (10x10x1.6mm) and ADV7612 (14x14x1.6mm) offer a 50% smaller footprint and a 25% reduction in power consumption for designs with 720p and 1080p resolutions. The receivers are for power-sensitive, ultra-slim home-theatre-in-a-box systems, projectors, audio/video receivers, high bit rate TVs, matrix switches and sound bar speaker systems. The ADV7611 allows portable designs to achieve 1080p/60f display resolution with 24bit colour. The ADV7612 offers 1080p/60f display resolution with up to 36bit colour. The Xpressview fast switching technology enables seamless, automatic switching between HDMI-enabled devices in less than 1s. Each receiver features an on-chip consumer electronics component controller, support for HDCP (high-bandwidth digital content protection) 1.4 and complete audio support of S/PDIF (Sony/Philips digital interface format) for compressed audio, including Dolby Digital and DTS; and two-channel I2S audio for transmitting stereo at sample rates up to 192kHz.
