The Endevco model 7240C from Meggitt Sensing Systems is a tiny piezoelectric accelerometer with low bandwidth flat to 30kHz, designed specially for general purpose high-frequency vibration measurements. It has a lightweight sensor design for high seismic resonance and ruggedness within the same package and offers low base strain sensitivity and good output stability over time, weighing just 4.8g, doing away with mass loading issues. The unit is hermetically sealed to avoid environmental contamination and is self-generating needing no external power source to operate.
The signal ground is connected to the outer case. When used with one of the supplied isolated mounting studs, the accelerometer is electrically isolated from ground. A low-noise coaxial cable is supplied for error-free operation. Its size, versatility and performance make it suitable for automotive, aerospace, commercial aviation, general laboratory testing and structural monitoring applications.
