A range of VPX clamshells from Schroff protect PCBs in harsh environmental conditions in defence applications. The clamshells provide a conduction cooling method for transferring heat generated by components and protect boards from the effects of shock and vibration. The clamshells are based on VITA 46/48 specifications. They have a two-part covering for either 3U or 6U PCBs and can incorporate ccPMC or XMC mezzanine cards. The clamshells come with Wedge-Lok or Card-Lok PCB retainers and extractor handles. Made from aluminium alloy for high thermal conductivity and lightweight strength, they can be designed with different finishes, including black anodised, chemical film, and electro-less nickel plating. They are available with hollow covers and can be customised to match board topography.
