The first member of Interface Masters' 10GBASE-T copper 10 Gigabit Ethernet server adapter card family, the Niagara 32711-TX, integrates with PCIe-based inline networking servers, including WAN acceleration, UTM, and IPS systems, and security and monitoring appliances such as Firewalls, IDS systems, and analysis probes. It accelerates guest applications in VMware, Citrix XenServer and Microsoft Hyper V environments. The server adapter supports RJ-45 1G copper in addition to 10GBASE-T, enabling networks supporting 1G copper architectures to maintain the cabling and connections for their existing topology, says the company. The adapter is based on the Intel 82599 10GbE controller, which supports for multi-core processors consisting of 128 transmit and receive queues. The controller also offers Virtualization Technology for Connectivity to reduce I/O bottlenecks, boost throughput, and reduces latency. The Virtual Machine Device queues offload the data-sorting burden to the network controller. The server adapter has layer 2 and 3 security, including IPSec and LinkSec, Intel I/OAT Acceleration v3.0, VLAN tagging, stripping and packet filtering, FCoE transmit, segmentation and offload, and SNMP and RMON statistic counters. For 10GBASE-T, the adapter uses the 4.5W SFT9102 10GBASE-T 40nm transceiver from Solarflare Communications.
