Avago Technologies claims that its two gain blocks expand its power amplifier family aimed at cellular infrastructure applications. The MGA-31589 and MGA-31689 0.5W gain blocks feature high linearity, high gain, high gain flatness and low power dissipation. The MGA-31589 gain block addresses cellular and WiMAX wireless base stations and other wireless systems operating between 450 to 1500MHz, while the MGA-31689 addresses these applications operating between 1500 to 3000MHz. The gain blocks are optimised for frequency to deliver improved performance across the cellular bands like GSM, CDMA, UMTS, and LTE. The gain blocks join the company's 0.25W MGA-31189 and MGA-31289 devices and the 0.10W MGA-31389 and MGA-31489 devices to serve applications from 50 to 3000MHz. The devices are in a compact, SOT-89 package. According to the company, their high gain can reduce the number of RF stages needed.
