Altera offers Stratix V FPGAs in 28nm process technology and has unveiled plans for 28nm Arria V FPGAs in the second half of this year, and for Cyclone V in Q1 2012. The Stratix V offers a performance of up to 350MHz and up to 1.1million logic elements on a monolithic die. Its transceiver is 14.1 or 28Gbit/s. Its soft memory controller supports 800MHz DDR3 DIMM and it has a 54x54 variable decision DSP. It supports 10GBASE-KR backplane for optical transport transponders and 40GbE or 100GbE switches and radar. The 28nm Cyclone V has 40% less power consumption than previous generations and transceivers operating at up to 5Gbit/s for video processing and buffering applications. There is a M10k memory block for buffers and system IP for PCIe Gen2 interface and a hard memory controller with mobile DDR support. The Arria V has up to 10W power and up to 500k logic elements. Its transceiver operates at up to 10Gbit/s and systolic finite response filters with variable precision DSP blocks. A hard memory controller supports 533MHZ DDR3. It is suitable for remote radio heads, broadcast equipment and video switchers. The HardCopy V is a 500MHz 28nm high-k gate ASIC, with a 14.1Gbit/s transceiver. Its soft memory controller supports 800MHz DDR3 DIMM and 55Mbit RAM.
