Altera has announced availability of the MAX V CPLD family that is power-efficient and features instant-on, single-chip, non-volatile characteristics. Ranging in density from 40 to 2,210 logic elements, the CPLDs deliver low power and high performance, making them suitable for general purpose and portable designs in a variety of market segments, including wireline, wireless, industrial, consumer, computer/storage, automotive, broadcast and military. Other benefits include improved battery life with static power of 45µW. The CPLDs are offered in a variety of low-cost, halogen-free package types (EQFP, TQFP, and MBGA) that meet environmental standards. They manage power-up sequencing and monitoring of other devices on the board. The CPLDs control the configuration and initialisation of other devices on the board.
