The MAX98304 from Maxim Integrated Products is a small Class D amplifier, which features an output power of 3.2W and a noise of 19µVRMS. Improved output power allows maximum loudness while battery voltages decrease, and low noise allows use of a sensitive speaker. The 1x1mm, 0.3mm-pitch, nine-bump wafer-level package features a no-connect middle bump to eliminate the need for expensive PCB technologies. This allows the use of single-layer PCBs for reduced manufacturing cost. The device is suitable for mobile phones, tablets, e-readers, notebooks, and netbooks. Patented EMI-reduction techniques and careful circuit design allow the amplifier to have low EMI emissions, and eliminate the need for output filtering. The EMI performance makes it easy to pass FCC and CE EMI limits, and avoids interference with other sensitive circuits.
