SiTime Corporation has expanded its Programmable Clock Generator family with the SiT9105, a 3-PLL, 5 output device suitable for networking applications. The device is an MEMS-based clock generator offering mixed LVCMOS and differential outputs in a single package while reducing board area by up to 66%. It is suitable for use in routers, switches, bridges, servers, base stations, repeaters and other high-performance equipment.
The device has programmable features to accommodate last minute design changes, saving re-design cost. Combining single-ended and differential outputs on a single chip allows for a reliable integrated solution. The embedded resonator removes the need for an external clock or crystal source. By lowering component count, it also leads to good design reliability. It can generate up to three unrelated frequencies including two frequencies on single-ended outputs and one on the differential output.
The differential clock outputs support LVDS, LVPECL, or HCSL signaling levels. The device supports frequencies from 1 to 220MHz, allowing optimisation of system performance. It delivers frequency stability of ±25PPM and operates from 1.8, 2.5 or 3.3V. Each output can operate off a different voltage, eliminating the need for external level translators and saving BOM cost.
