CML Microcircuits has launched the CMX7261 single chip G.711/G.729A/CVSD full duplex multi-transcoder for use in software-defined radio and VoIP applications. The multi-transcoder is claimed to generate toll quality speech for numerous applications without sacrificing the performance. It provides ADC and DAC conversion without any additional DSP or programming. The device was developed using the company's FirmASIC technology and incorporates features such as voice activity detection, C-BUS host serial control and data interface, multiple choice of input and output sources, streaming transfers, four GPIO and encoder and decoder test mode support. The multi-transcoder unit, featuring inbuilt G.711, G.729A and CVSD algorithms, comes in a 64-VQFN package. The device has power-saving modes and operates from a 3.3V supply.
