Sharp has added the LQ190E1LX51, 480mm (or 19inch) SXGA display to its industrial grade, high brightness displays with LED backlighting. It provides a brightness of up to 1,000cd/m² with a contrast ratio of 900:1 and a viewing angle of 170°. In addition to traditional industrial applications, it is suitable for use in e kiosks, in semi-outdoor areas as well as suitable for use in wholly outdoors areas. There is also the addition of the LQ231U1LW31, 590mm (or 23inch) UXGA display with a brightness of up to 500 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 600:1 and viewing angle of 170°. This model can be used, for example, in nautical chart-reading tables onboard ships. On a ship's or other vessel's bridge in the daytime, optimal readability of the display must be ensured even in direct sunlight, while at night the backlight must be dimmed to ensure that the chart table does not dazzle in the dark and does not cause reflections in the front pane of the display. The displays work in a temperature range of -20 to +60°C and are suitable for outdoor use in hot summer days as well as cold winter ones, says the company. The displays' lifespan is up to 50,000 hours.
