Renesas Electronics and its subsidiary, Renesas Mobile Corporation, have introduced a 3D mobile solution that integrates Renesas Mobile's industry reference LTE triple-mode modem solution, the SP2531, with the SH-Mobile APE5R application processor. The application processor offers sophisticated 3D features, high profile H.264 video encode and decode, and high-definition multimedia and USB interfaces.
The MP5225 mobile platform incorporates a single-chip, triple-mode LTE modem to support LTE, HSPA+ (high speed packet access+), and GSM (global system for mobile) RF transceiver ICs, high power amplifiers, power management devices and related software. The mobile platform allows OEMs and carriers to deliver applications and services for smartphones, and tablet PCs. It supports various operating systems such as Android, Windows, MeeGo, and Symbian.
Renesas Mobile will also provide a coherent platform environment by utilising the software and hardware technology expertise gained through the SH-Mobile APE5R development on the mobile platform. The mobile platform has a third-generation streaming system architecture based on 1080p video solutions and has an off-load solution to attain high profile codec support. The application processor incorporates a dual-core Cortex-A9 ARM CPU and delivers 6,000 Dhrystone microprocessor without interlocked pipeline stages.
