Chrontel has introduced two timing controllers that are suitable for converting LVDS (low-voltage differential signaling) to DP (DisplayPort) standard for high-speed, high-resolution displays. The CH7510 timing controller is used in display panels to convert DP input signals into mini-LVDS outputs. The CH7511 timing controller is used in notebook computers to convert DP input signals into LVDS outputs. The timing controllers are compatible with widescreen ultra-extended graphics array display resolutions at refresh rates of 60Hz. They are compliant with DP version 1.1a and embedded DP standard version 1.2, and support link rates up to 2.7Gbit/s.
The company claims that the CH7511 DP receiver and LVDS transmitter maintains compatibility with display panels that are already designed with LVDS inputs. DP handles video data transmissions from a computer's CPU or graphics processing unit to internal and external display panels. Mini-LVDS is a low-EMI version of LVDS that drives row and column data to the LCD module present within a display panel. The CH7510 allows display OEMs to offer products that utilise an external DP interface.
