Sensor Products has released a thin sensor film that can be used in a variety of applications to test and monitor heated contacting surfaces from 200 to 300°F. The Thermex thin sensor film, upon exposure to heat and contact, changes colour in 0.1s or less to permanently reveal relative temperature distribution between any two surfaces. The intensity of the colour change directly relates to the temperature it was exposed, enabling the sensor film to reveal high or low temperature zones and minute surface variations. The sensor film can access invasive intolerant environments and interfaces.
The sensor film is suitable for applications such as heat sealing, lamination and press, flat web-type machines used in converting, ultrasonic welding, heat sinking, and clutch and brake interfaces. Post-processing analysis of the sensor film is available for temperature fluctuations.
