For the use in high speed medical applications of up to 90,000 rpm, Maxon Motor launches two sterilisable drives, the EC Size 5 and EC 13. They are designed for the use with or without the specially matched planetary gearheads. The operate as standalone or as a motor or gearhead combination. They are have high nominal speed, are low-noise and low-vibration in operation, have marginal thermal emission and are small in size. The motor and gearhead of the size 5 variant has an outside diameter of 0.5inch and a shaft of 0.125inch. The motor has a servo mount motor. The EC 13 / GP 13 is for metric-based use and has an outer diameter of 13 mm, a 3 mm shaft and a flange with three side threads. Both motors are available either equipped with Hall sensors or sensorless as well as with three different windings.
