Synopsys' DesignWare data converter IP solutions are optimised for mobile broadband wireless communication applications such as WiFi, WiMAX, LTE, and digital TV reception. The data converter can reach high sampling rates with good dynamic performance, and has the ability to process signal bandwidth beyond 100MHz. These characteristics make the data converters suitable for high data rate standards such as WiFi and home networking, and for direct conversion of intermediate frequency signals.
The data converters feature 10 and 12bit pipeline ADCs that run up to 250Msample/s (mega samples per second) in single channel and dual channel configurations. It has 14bit current steering DACs that run up to 400Msample/s in single channel and dual channel configurations. The data converters help in reducing the area and power dissipation of SoCs. The company claims that they also simplify system integration and lower the overall silicon cost.
